Our Mission
Ocean Matters is an educational experience like no other that connects your community to the ocean no matter where you live. More than half of the United States is landlocked, yet two-thirds of the planet is covered with ocean that few spend much time thinking about, yet more than 50% of the oxygen you are breathing right now was produced there.
Ocean Matters is here to change the way every person thinks about their relationship with what Dr. Sylvia Earle affectionately calls the blue heart of our planet.
Founded by Vince Kelly, we are a team of experienced science communicators and ocean enthusiasts with backgrounds in marine biology, oceanography, scuba diving, and multimedia storytelling, and we are ready to customize a program for your classroom, library, community center or corporate event.
